God Steals Money From Poor Man And Gives It To Missionaries As A Test

Recently, the following exchange was posted on a family website on which my in-laws participate. I have kept the spelling, capitalization and grammar completely in tact.

lost money

Brother-in-Law, currently a Mormon Missionary:
yesterday after church we went to try and see George, a guy that we have been teaching. he was not home so we decided to knock on the doors around his place. while walking past the dumpster Elder Smith found $60. he took it and we tried to find the owner of the money. now one was home. and we did not want to take that much money out of the getto. but on our way back to the car we saw that George was now home so we tried him again. he had to go to work so we could not stay for long. but we asked him if he had lost any money. he said that he lost $60. so we gave him back the money and he said that it was a sign from God. George is looking good he has read everything that we gave him and will be coming to conferance.

Sister-In-Law #1:
Cool story! To have God's messengers return something that you lost to you would make you feel pretty loved and watched over. I like it when God gives us little (sometimes big) signals or signs that he is looking out for us and loves us. After reading the title of your post, I was relieved to know that you hadn't lost any money and that all turned out so well for George as well.

Sister-In-Law #2:
That is a very cool story! It is good to hear things are going well.

Sister-In-Law #3:
I love a good spiritual story!

Frankly, I'm surprised God didn't keep the money for himself. He has, after all been spending quite a bit lately. I wouldn't doubt that He's stretched Himself a bit thin, financially speaking.
