Four For The Price Of One

I found out why the theater hadn't yet called. It's not that they didn't want me to do the show I was being considered for. It's that the want me to do the next four shows.

One would be the situation I already told you about, picking up an extended run for an actor who can't continue with the show. The other is the show I actually was interested in doing in the first place. I have played this role before and when I saw it on the schedule I expressed interest. Shows three and four would run concurrently right after show number one ends but before the run of show number two.

If I agreed to all four roles I would begin rehearsals immediately and be either on stage or in rehearsal until the middle of November. It would be a commitment of ten to twelve performances or rehearsals a week starting pretty much this week. All this in addition to my regular day job.

Thanks but no thanks.

At this point, the extension of the first show would only be for about two weeks. Not really worth my time. I told them so and will probably not do those performances. I also said I wasn't interested in both the other two shows, just the one I expressed interest in doing in the first place and perhaps just one of the two upcoming gigs. That makes it so I'm not performing in two shows at once while rehearsing for another.

Follow all that?

What it means is that I will probably be on stage at some point in the near future but not right away and not without proper rehearsals beforehand. All this is pretty good, really and leaves me the summer to get some things done around the house before getting into a busy theater schedule for a bit.

Stay tuned, I'll keep you posted.

You made the right call, Pete.
As you are well aware, the theater is demanding enough when you are rehearsing a role you LOVE.

It just doesn't sound like the right time. You would have beyond no life left.

Plus, there is all the theater shenanigans and diddling...

;P

What shenanigans would those be... exactly?
