The Sort Of Thing I Couldn't Faith Myself Into Believing

Brigham Young said, "Now if any of you will deny the plurality of wives, and continue to do so, I promise that you will be damned." Also, "The only men who become Gods, even the Sons of God, are those who enter into polygamy."

Doctors in Northern Arizona say that polygamy is fueling that state's rapidly rising rate of genetic disorders.

Who do you think it makes more sense to believe?

If everyone would just see the reality that polygamy is God's law, they wouldn't be forced to marry their cousins - there'd be a whole world full of women to choose from. Not sure what we'd do with all those excess men, but I'm sure God could come up with something.

3 husbands....I like that idea.

Polygamy is great - as long as we make it fair so that I am allowed to have more than one husband too (that would fix the problem Floating in the Milk mentioned above). Wow, I can see it now - all my honey-do's would get done, the lawn would always be mowed, and the painting would get finished. All for the price of putting out a little more :o)
No wonder BY was endorsed polygamy!

My wife agrees with you. She told me once that if men could have more than one wife then the wifes should be able to marry more than one husband. Oh, and she thinks that the wifes are probably lesbians. I'm not sure, but if the wifes are all married to the same man, then they are married to each other as well, so they are sleeping with someone they are married to which wouldn't be a sin, right?

How weird, I just watched a WE special tonight on polygamy. I think my vote is with the docs :)

You may think that polygamy is a strange religious practice, but then look at how many times you see people marry and re-marry just to find that perfect fit? Or, perhaps you find yourself trapped in a daze over someone you can't have your hands on, because they belong to someone else. Oddly as polygamy sounds, maybe they were on to something... just make it legal and then it wont seem so wrong in the eyes of God and man? I dunno, just a thought....

Oh-- and another thing...

Could you imagine the kind of Father's Day you've have with that many wives & kids!? Sounds like a bonus to me.

The previous poster (Julie?) needs to lay off the hooch or Mary Jane or whatever she is obviously enjoying a bit too much to make these comments.

As the courts have shown, polygamy with the FLDS involves welfare fraud, child abuse, and misogynistic practices. Now doctors warn of possible genetic mutation…

Oh, and there is no "just" in looking for, working towards, or finding true love and the perfect fit.

Interesting post Pete…
