How Do I Even Begin?

I have so much to talk about and so little that I can. For strictly selfish and therapeutic reasons I'd love to write a pages-long diatribe. An essay of epic proportions. A manifesto for the ages.

Instead, for being-polite-and-not-burning-any-bridges reasons I'll just say this.

Never underestimate peoples' ability to stab you in the back. And then, while you're on the ground writhing in pain, twist the knife.

They usually get in a few kicks while you are down there, too.

Write the diatribe for no other reason than it will make you feel better to get it out. But yeah, I wouldn't post it.

Been there, done that...

I had a co-worker -- who I liked a lot, and thought was my friend -- at a job who created a list of every small screw-up I made in six months, then presented the list to my boss. I realized in that moment that my co-worker was treating real life like a PvP online game: the person who gets the first strike almost always wins.

Rather than let it get me down, I decided to ignore it, move on to another job, and keep much more tight-lipped with most of my co-workers. I don't disclose much information to people that I may distrust, and I only trust people who I know the dirt on.

Works pretty well. Takes a while to establish new friendships, though.

I agree

with the commenter who said write it and keep it to yourself. Or at least send it to someone you are certain has no knives.

Did you find someone to drink with?

do you think they were plotting while you were on vacay? That happened to me once. You are better off with out them...assuming you no longer work at the same establishment?

There is almost nothing

There is almost nothing worse than being completely blind sided and betrayed by someone you trusted. And if there is anything worse, I can't think of it right now. Sorry Pete.

Hang in there...

I'm sorry to hear you're going through something that is obviously quite upsetting. Here's hoping that you're able to turn this, whatever it is, into something positive.

Sorry

I've learned that lesson (never underestimate) too many times to count. Somehow I'm still surprised when it happens.

I hope this "back stabbing"

I hope this "back stabbing" stuff isn't blog related. I still can't believe that blogging has gotten to the point where betrayals and feuds and grudges are entering the picture. It's a damn shame.

I've been checking back here everyday to see if there have been any new developments, and nothing yet... Not trying to pry, but I think we'd all just like to hear from you so we know you're making it through the days. Hope you're hanging in there. Sending positive thoughts your way!
